GALLERY 2019

Make My Day! 2019 - The Exchange Creative Community’s free artist-led festival of making, performance and creativity - once again saw thousands of people come together in Morecambe’s West End Gardens to make, build, hammer, draw, paint, play and have bags of fun. Smiling faces could be seen at every turn!

Led by a brilliant team of artists, community members and performers. Make My Day! aims to inspire confidence in being creative. The family festival of inventive capers provided visitors with an amazing array of activities to try their hand at; over the course of the afternoon thousands of marvellous creations were made - and proudly taken home.

This year also saw the launch of Putt-by-Numbers; The Exchange Creative Community’s pop-up mini crazy golf course with a difference; designed by local artists and built with over 100 amazing local people from the community. Deputy Mayor, Alan Biddulph, teed off at 12 noon to start the ball rolling! And if you missed out on playing a round at Make My Day! - the course will be popping-up again, in a couple of weekends time - at Vintage by the Sea.

More creative antics were provided by Pif Paf Theatre’s Action Painting - an explosive painting spectacle that used pneumatic cannons to fire paint soaked sponges at a massive canvas; tip top street theatre shenanigans, handmade games, live acoustic music and a family rave were added to the mix to ensure that there really was something for everyone to enjoy.

Make My Day! is a free family festival made possible through the dedication and hard work of The Exchange CIC’s small creative team and wider pool of amazing volunteers. The event is funded by Arts Council England and Big Lottery Awards for All Community Fund, Morecambe Town Council, Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council and supported by Peel Ports and Neuro Touch.

Beki Melrose, of The Exchange CIC said,
“This year we really went all out to fill the West End Gardens with wonderful activities covering a vast palette of art - including theatre, digital, music, sculpture, performance, drawing and much more! We love that this is a rare chance for local families to get properly stuck in together and put actual trust in young creativity with real hammers and saws. We truly believe that #artisforeveryone”
